Fire Service Junior Safety Ambassadors

Purpose Partner with Plain View Combined School to build age‑appropriate safety knowledge and first‑aid awareness among students ages 8 to 13. Learners develop practical habits for school and home while engaging with positive role models from the Saint Lucia Fire Service. Who, When, Where Audience: mixed boys and girls ages 8–13. Group size: up to 24 learners split into four squads of six. Format: one hour, once weekly on school grounds. Venue: outdoor court/field with a nearby hall as rain plan. Pilot and Launch Two on‑site trial sessions: Thursday 20th Nov 2025 and Thursday 27th Nov 2025, 3:00–4:00 pm. Full 12‑week programme begins January 2026 within the school term. Aims (SMART) • - Safety literacy: learners explain evacuation basics and home/School hazard awareness. • - First‑aid basics: learners place a peer in the recovery position and demonstrate hands‑only compressions technique on a trainer. • - Community risk reduction: each child completes a simple family home safety card. • - Teamwork and character: growth in communication and leadership within squads. Curriculum Snapshot (Term 1) Station safety & PPE; Fire science for kids; Home escape planning; Hazard hunt; Calling 911; Mini‑Medics I & II; Road & scene safety; Water safety; Team challenge; Community risk reduction; Family showcase & certificates.
